Rivet is an offshoot of the Shift series created by the OCAD U Student Press. It is a biannual publication showcasing work by OCAD U students and alumni.

What is Rivet?

This year, along with the annual publication of the Shift series, we are introducing a new experimental publication that will act as a supplement for Shift. Our goal is to collect high quality work from OCAD U students, alumni and faculty that experiment with interesting concepts, materials, and processes.

For example you can submit a creative story, a short graphic novel, a visual essay, a series of prints, photos of 3D work, thesis work,  an interesting documentation of your process etc.

The format of the book will be 5” x 8” inches and it will most likely be printed using a Risograph which is a method that can best be described as a combination of xerox and screenprinting. This means that it will be one colour throughout and any tone will be converted to a halftone image. We are hoping to have our first issue published in January 2012.

We are looking for all kinds of work from all the different departments. Our goal is to unify art and design in a beautiful, fluid and cohesive book. We are partnering with OCAD Poetics who will supplement the visuals with creative writing and essays. We are a team of six people who are dedicated to creating a long lasting document of today’s art and design culture.
